YAB Mentoring Program

THE PROGRAM

The Mentoring program today is a week long program for students ages 10-14. We have over 50 businesses that mentor a child for a week during the summer, and several of our students will participate for two weeks. These students are exposed to the day-to-day experiences of a business owner. During this time with their mentor, students have a set agenda to maximize their learning experience. Students interview their mentors to learn about their business, and what motivated them to establish their particular business. They are given the opportunity to work directly with their mentor in his/her daily activities, and they eat lunch daily with their mentor or staff. Many students are shown how every aspect of the business works from the beginning of the day to the closing of day's operations.

PREPARATION FOR OWNERSHIP TRAINING

At the end of the mentoring program the students are taken on an educational field trip, as well as a fun field trip to award them of their good work during the summer. Students will participate with several mentors during their early years in preparation to join the Ownership Management Program which is for students ages 15-18.
