YAB Ownership Management Program

The Ownership Management Program provides an opportunity for high school students to develop necessary skills for becoming future business owners.

SUMMER EXPERIENCE

This unique entrepreneurial training is a ten week program. This program is comprised of eight weeks training at the Youth About Business training center, one week at the Nashville Summer Business Camp at Vanderbilt University, and an additional week in New York on the Wallstreet trip.

During their eight weeks at the Youth About Business Training center, participants will get to understand and operate on the management side of their youth companies. The businesses available to them include the YAB Specialty Company, Real-Estate Company, investment club, All Things Possible Retail store, as well as the YAB Summer Business Camp.

RESUME BUILDING

Instead of demanding simple tasks, our program promotes creative thinking, timely decision making, and good analytical skills. Our students learn how to: create budgets, set sales forecasts, market their businesses, file tax forms, create projects, set project deadlines, handle any work related problems, and develop skills that will prepare them for a bright future in entrepreneurship or in the work force.

This program also prepares our students to have a greater understanding of the importance of professionalism. All students participate in the interview process for their positions. During the program, the meaning of professionalism is important, especially since our students set the tone of leadership and professionalism for their training centers. Each student who leaves the program develops an understanding of how professionalism ultimately translates into growth and success for their companies.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The program lasts from June 2nd until August 1st. Applications for the program are due by April 29th. All interviews will be conducted during the month of May, and all applicants that are accepted into the program will be notified thereafter.
