FAQ

How much does it cost?
The cost of the entire Youth About Business program is $5,000. About 10% of students are required to pay full price for each component for Youth About Business. The overwhelming majority of our students receive a corporately sponsored scholarship of $3,500 automatically as a result of them being in public schools. We work with most parents on the how to cover the balance of the $1,500 for their student's participation. Once your student is selected, we will determine the level of scholarship funding they will receive but again, the majority of our students receive one of our corporately sponsored scholarships.

Why are only certain components available in certain areas?
Youth About Business was founded in Nashville, TN and that is where the Entrepreneurial Training Program portion was started. The corporate community provided seed capital to begin the expansion of the Summer Business Camp portion as our high school training program. Currently the Entrepreneurial Training Program portion only operates in Nashville, TN. We will expand the Entrepreneurial Training Program portion to the other regions as resources become available.

What grades/ages are the student participants?
The Entrepreneurial Training program serves students from 10 – 18 years old. The Summer Business Camp serves high school students. To participate in Summer Business Camp, students must have completed their freshman year of high school. Students are eligible to participate as late as the summer following their high school graduation.

When will the camps take place?
Our Summer Business Camps take place each year beginning the first week of June through the end of July. Actual dates for each region will be posted in the Summer Programming section of the website.

There is no GPA requirement for any of our programs.

What is included in the application process?

Students are required to submit a Code of Conduct form insuring they will follow all program guidelines and a Parent's Permission Form.

How are students selected for the program?
Our students must exhibit a desire to want to succeed, have two teachers recommend them to the program, and write us a one page essay telling us why they would like to be a part of a leadership training program. Although we ask for students’ GPA, SAT and ACT scores (if they have them), students are not admitted based on these criteria. This is solely for data collection and tracking. Our program is intense and many students that have not traditionally done well in classroom based learning models do well in our experiential model.

When will students be notified if they are accepted?
Students applying for our Summer Business Camp programs will know by the last Friday in April if they have been accepted to attend the Summer Business Camp for that year.

If students cannot attend The Wall Street Conference, they may still attend Leadership Development Training, however, their fees will not be refunded.
